Weaving is, at its core, an act of alchemy and transformation: fiber becoming structure, color becoming feeling, repetition becoming meaning.
Using frame loom weaving as my primary medium, I create woven artworks that are bold in color, rich in texture, and deeply intentional in their making. Colour is my muse, and I use it with a kind of reckless delight to convey feeling and emotion as it allows me to express what words often can’t.
I am drawn to the places where beauty and difficulty meet, where a challenging experience becomes the inspiration for something luminous, even playful. My practice is shaped by the belief that making is not incidental to healing and joy, but central to it. Through original works, teaching, and community, I aim to demonstrate that creativity is not a rare gift but a fundamental human capacity—one worth tending, sharing, and returning to, again and again.
Jen Duffin is a Montreal-based fiber artist, weaving instructor, and author. Since 2016, she has built a practice rooted in frame loom weaving — producing bold, textural wall art defined by saturated color, movement, and meticulous craft.
Her work has been featured in Be Creative, What Women Create, and In Her Studio magazine. In 2019, her signature woven artwork was recognized as a finalist in the Etsy Design Awards, winning the Canadian People's Choice Award. She is the author of The Joy of Weaving: Modern Frame Loom Projects for Beginners, and has a project featured in Art Craft Colour by Lisa Solomon. Jen shares her love of weaving with hundreds of students through workshops, retreats, and online courses.
Jen's practice is grounded in the belief that the act of making is itself transformative, a thread that runs through her art, her teaching, and the creative community she continues to build.
